VERNAL EQUINOX SPECIAL: THE GLORIANS, with TERRY TEMPEST WILLIAMS

In honor of the Vernal Equinox, and the balance we are all longing for, we're joined this week by humanist, conservationist, professor and writer in residence at the Harvard Divinity School, Terry Tempest Williams. From her 1991 classic, "Refuge, An Unnatural History of Family & Place", to to her newest title out now from Grove Atlantic, "The Glorians, Visitations from the Holy Ordinary", and the more than 100 publications in between, Terry’s writing is grounded in her love of the landscapes of the U.S. West. Her love and her writings profoundly expand our love for, and understanding of, this whole planet we call home.
“We all have Glorians in our lives and I can only imagine if you had a circle of gardeners and each one would speak about a Glorian that they had encountered, in the last week, the stories would be endless, of that moment of meeting, that moment of surprise, the moment they had been cultivating all along that comes into full blossom.”

JOIN US again next week, with spring in the air we revisit a favorite conversation around seeds and dreaming. We’re with Jen Williams of Wild Dreams Seed on Vashon Island, WA because dreams + Spring = seeds, don’t you agree? That's right here, next week. Listen in!

Thinking out loud this week...
Hey, it's Jennifer—
What I take from this newest offering to our world from Terry Tempest Williams is right there in the subtitle to her newest book, The Glorians,
Visitations from the Holy Ordinary.
The ordinary is also the holy and as Gardeners I think we have the great privilege of being witness to this truth more closely than many. We see the hummingbirds, the flower buds, the seed heads, the light move across our plants and places and move us at the same time.
How lucky are we? And how, with the vigor of spring in our sap and pith, ever more important it therefore is to grow fiercely for all that we love and value.
Thank you to all who joined us for our CP Communing earlier this week in preparation for the Vernal Equinox – we are so looking forward to meeting monthly from here on out, on the third Tuesday of Every Month – check the
Events page at CultivatingPlace.org for the registration and time
information.
Because, in our Communing gatherings we ARE the living embodiment of this quote from Terry, which I am sure you noted too: “We all have glorians in our lives and I can only imagine if you had a circle of gardeners and each one would speak about a Glorian that they had encountered, in the last week, the stories would be endless, of that moment of meeting, that moment of surprise, the moment they had been cultivating all along that comes into full blossom.”
That’s us CP’ers, a circle of Gardeners sharing all that they cultivate
gloriously. And yes The Glorians will be my CP Book Club pick for May!'s CP COMMUNING.
Until then, happy spring! Grow on!
